Karen Young was this year's keynote speaker.  Young is the President of A+ Educators. She was raised in a small town in northern Arizona where she graduated from high school at the top of her class (of four). In 1980, she met entrepreneur Gail Richardson, Founder of La Petite Academy and Prescription Learning, and he convinced her to move to Phoenix. She has enjoyed engaging professional pursuits and extremely hot summers ever since.

Her professional highlights include tenure as Senior Vice President of Educational Management Group, the largest provider of educational services via digital satellite in the country (Heller Report, 1996), President of the National School Conference Institute (NSCI), President/Founder of Learning 24/7 and Certified Professional Dog Trainer. A student of Effective Schools research, Karen knows every child can learn at high levels, and she personally taught a student with Down Syndrome who graduated as valedictorian of his senior class. Karen is currently focused on instructional technology integration and corresponding learner engagement. www.4aplus.com

Judy F. Carr and Douglas E. Harris, co-directors of the Center for Curriculum Renewal, conducted much of the workshop training.
