Kindness Month at Pine City Elementary School

March is Kindness Month at Pine City
Posted on 03/03/2020
Throughout the month of March, our school will advocate and celebrate kindness, both within our walls and throughout the community.

In the classroom, teachers are "collecting kind acts". Each time a student completes an act of kindness, a token (pompom) is put into the jar by the teacher. At the end of March, the two classes with the most tokens will receive an invitation to "kick around kindness" with a kickball game.

Our families are all in! Throughout March, students will ask family and friends to donate their loose change to benefit the Chemung County SPCA. Classrooms will be given a bucket to decorate and collect the "kind coins". The SPCA will come in on Friday, April 3, and in a 1:45 p.m. assembly, a representative will receive the donations and allow students to meet a few animals.

To build and maintain momentum for the month-long kindness challenge, the school held a special kickoff celebration! Students and staff wore Express colors: burgundy and black. The Express football team joined us first thing in the morning to welcome and greet students as they entered the building. And volunteer firefighters from the Pine City Fire Department came to greet students and read to them in their classrooms! It was a special day! Thank you for everyone's involvement. Family, School, Community: Together We Succeed!

And the Kindness Craze continues...

Friday, March 6 -- Crazy about kindness. Crazy hair day.

Friday, March 13 -- Kindness makes our team stronger! Wear Pine City School colors (green and gold). We will capture a picture of all students and staff, standing together in a giant heart shape.

Thursday, March 19 (no school that Friday) -- We are tied together for kindness. Wear a tie or a tie-dyed shirt.

Friday, March 27 -- It feels good to be kind! Dress up like your favorite kind character from a book. (Spring Book Fair and Family Literacy Night events are also scheduled for this week.)
