Members of our community interested in running for the school board in the upcoming election, Board Packets will be available for pick-up at the District Administration Office at 430 W. Washington Ave. in Elmira, NY. These packets will be available for pick-up by appointment only. Interested parties are encouraged to call the District Office phone number at 607-735-3000 to make an appointment.

Throughout this time, staffing is limited. Please leave a voicemail and a District employee will call to arrange an appointment within 24-hours.

The next School Board Election will be held on May 19, 2020. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. 

Polling Locations:

School District voters residing north of the Chemung River (including residents of the Lowman area) vote at Ernie Davis Academy (933 Hoffman Street)
Voters residing south of the Chemung River (including residents of the Golden Glow area) vote at Elmira High School (777 S. Main St.)

In Order to be Eligible to Vote, You Must Be a:

a. Citizen of the United States;
b. 18 Years of Age;
c. Resident of State and District for 30 days immediately preceding the election;
d. Must be eligible to vote at any election in accordance with the provisions of Section 5-106 of the election law.

What are the Qualifications Required to be a Board Member Candidate?

a. Able to read and write;
b. Must be a qualified voter of the city school district as defined below;
c. Must have been a resident of the District for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election;
d. May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family;
e. May not be employed by the District;
f. May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year;
g. May not hold any city office other than as a police officer or firefighter;
h. If a convicted felon, may not run for Board if his or her maximum prison sentence has not expired or if he or she has not been pardoned or discharged from parole.
