Building Security Protocol

Welcome Center, Security Vestibule

Double Entry, Security Vestibule Check-in Center -- Visitors to schools first buzz into a secure vestibule. A video intercom system is used for visitor screening. Visitors must state their full name and reason for their visit through the intercom system.

Board of Education policy requires all visitors to present a valid form of identification when they enter a district building. Visitors who are granted access through the primary entrance are required to pass through the security vestibule "Welcome Center" before proceeding into the school's main office. All visitors must sign-in and provide ID to be run through the Raptor Security System (read more below under 'Visitor Management System').

The District also has school monitors in each building, as well as use of School Resource Officers in each building. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office are routinely present on campus, in school buildings, and at large public events.

Visitor Management System | The Raptor System

The Elmira City School District uses the Raptor digital security system to enhance safety procedures at all buildings. The Raptor Visitor Management System screens IDs against registered sex offender databases in all 50 states. The Raptor system digitizes many of our current security procedures and requires visitors to show identification upon entering a district building. Board of Education policy requires all visitors to present a valid form of identification when they enter a district building.

The system stores directory information for all future visits in order to expedite our normal visitor check-in process and student check-out process. Identification information collected will not be shared with any individuals or organizations outside the school district.

If you have questions, please contact your school. Thank you for helping to keep our schools safe.
